01

Strategic Consultancy

For a changing Income Protection landscape

Helping insurers, reinsurers and third-party providers transform Income Protection propositions into outcome-focused systems that work — from early-stage proposition refinement through to operational roll-out and market engagement.

Within Income Protection, developing Early Intervention and claim pathways that are fair, consistent and Consumer Duty-aligned, and that make long-term claim experience more sustainable for the portfolio.

Areas of focus

Making Early Intervention work

Practical models aligned with waiting periods, policy conditions and existing added value support services. Clarity on when and how to intervene.

Improving customer journeys

Language and tone reviews, human-centred claims processes that build trust, and guidance for third-party providers to deliver measurable support.

Supporting recovery and sustainable return to work

Evidence-based vocational rehabilitation, working alongside claims and rehab partners to identify what is genuinely helping recovery and what is getting in the way.

Strategic alignment

Support between claims, underwriting and product teams. Reinsurer partnership alignment on data, risk and customer outcomes. Governance and MI feedback loops.

02

Training

Multi-module programmes for claims teams and clinicians

Upskilling claims teams to have confident, compassionate conversations and make well-evidenced decisions, so customers feel understood at a difficult time, and assessments become more consistent for a better customer journey.

Assessing and managing disability claims requires a multidimensional set of skills: clinical, psychological, vocational and product/technical knowledge. Bespoke programmes are tailored to your audience, your product — Income Protection (group or retail), TPD, Critical Illness — and your customer profile, with real IP case studies running throughout.

Areas of focus

Disability Claim Management

Helping Claim Consultants optimise Income Protection outcomes. Modules covering biopsychosocial triage, claim duration management, and subjective claims.

Core communication skills

Active listening, open-ended and probing questions, reflective responses, building rapport, managing challenging conversations, role play activities.

Active case support and recovery planning

Behavioural change models for complex cases. When and how rehabilitation helps. Third-party intervention timing and getting the right intervention to the right person at the right time.

Complex and fluctuating conditions

Mental health conditions, the role of work-related stress, bereavement, carer responsibilities and cases where capacity varies. Supporting people through ongoing recovery; triage for additional clinical input.

Reinsurance Bridge for IP claims

A focused 1-day session for reinsurer IP claims teams. Closes knowledge gaps on UK IP trends, emerging risks, and cedant expectations, sharpening portfolio risk control and reinsurance differentiation.

  • Onboarding programmes for new assessors
  • In person and remote
  • Bite-size, half-day and full-day sessions on site

Vocational Rehabilitation & Supervision

20 years of experience

A vocational rehabilitation clinic bringing over 20 years of experience within the private and public sectors. After an initial assessment, we collaboratively define a plan with 1-1 sessions over a defined timeframe, identifying what genuinely supports their recovery: addressing barriers to support a phased return to work, a new career direction or sometimes ongoing support if return to paid employment is not feasible. The right outcome for the person, evidenced and case-managed throughout.

  • Transferable skills analysis and career direction coaching
  • Job-seeking strategy, CV building and confidence techniques
  • Worksite meetings with employers and phased return-to-work plans
  • Initial Needs Assessment, Personal Injury Assessments, complex & catastrophic case management
  • Supervision and mentorship of VR practitioners, applying VRA Standards of Practice
  • IRCM registered (Institute of Registered Case Managers)

Monica entered my life after a major health incident. Returning to work was complicated as I had residual problems, and my confidence and anxiety was high. She built my confidence, mediated and negotiated my return to work, as she was my ally and coach. She was there before and during the phased return and my ambassador. I know that if she was not here, possibly, I would not return to work and not fulfilled my potential.

What makes us different

Why MGC.

01

One view of the whole picture

From product design through to the right outcome for each customer. Having worked across the clinic, claims, product and reinsurance, I understand how the pieces fit together, and where things tend to fall down between teams.

02

Insight, not just opinion

Every recommendation is grounded in data, lived customer experience and market best practice, not theoretical frameworks.

03

A stronger proposition all round

Claims teams freed to spend more time with customers, not admin. A better experience for people at a difficult time, which in turn builds loyalty. And real customer support that insurers can be proud to stand behind.

Let's Work Together

Whether you're refining a proposition, supporting your claims team, or thinking about where AI fits — I'd love to talk.
