Enhancing Claims Management: Supporting you in developing practical approaches to managing claims with care, consistency, and compliance, including claims philosophy support.

Training

For insurers: Assessing and managing disability claims requires a multidimensional set of skills and experience. I have been delivering training for claims teams for the last 15 years.  Supporting you with the up-skilling of your claims and clinical teams. Some topics include:

  • Engaging with customers effectively, building rapport and identifying customers requiring additional support in their recovery.

  • Assessing and managing mental health-related claims.

  • Implementing vocational rehabilitation within Income Protection

For third-party providers: Working in the Protection Insurance sector can be daunting, from insurance jargon, to different product drivers within the group and retail protection markets.

Training topics range from:

  • Introduction to the protection insurance sector and Income Protection products.

  • In-depth sessions covering different case scenarios for a tailored service to the Income Protection market.

I work with both insurers and third-party providers to refine and enhance products to meet protection insurance needs. My focus is on ensuring solutions deliver real value to the end consumer, whilst being commercially viable and evidence-based.

Vocational Rehabilitation and Supervision

My vocational rehabilitation clinic brings over 19 years of experience within the private and public sectors.

After an initial assessment, I collaboratively define a vocational rehabilitation plan, which includes 1-1 sessions over a defined timeframe, supporting the customer throughout their return-to-work journey.

I am to address psychosocial barriers and build work readiness through evidence-based vocational rehabilitation techniques, which may include:

-      Transferable skills analysis

-      Career direction coaching

-      Job-seeking strategy

-      CV building and condition management               techniques to increase self-confidence in a             graduated manner.

-       Worksite meetings with employers to agree           on RTW plans

-       Phased return to work plans in collaboration         with Occupational Health practitioners.

-       Interaction with treating medical teams to              guide VR work.

My Health Psychology background enabled me to adopt a holistic framework where biopsychosocial factors are addressed in a holistic, empathic, collaborative, practical and structured approach.

The feedback I receive from the customers I help is most rewarding. They come from a wide range of occupations, and my personal approach and experience enables me to offer a VIP experience.

I often find that return-to-work conversations and planning do not usually form part of medical interventions. As such, the Income Protection and Personal Injury insurance sectors have embraced vocational rehabilitation benefits for individuals, insurers and society.

Supervision: I am committed to supporting the vocational rehabilitation professional practice of new and existing practitioners, and I work with teams and individuals providing VR supervision.

As a Trustee of the Vocational Rehabilitation Association UK (VRA), I focus on advancing the VR professional practice in the UK.
